On behalf of the Graduate Medical Education team, welcome to UC Irvine!

As Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, I am excited and honored to welcome you to UC Irvine School of Medicine where all of our faculty, staff, residents and students work cohesively together, dedicated to academic excellence and high-quality patient care.

Our Office of Graduate Medical Education expends many resources, time, thought and energy into our valued residents and fellows, because we are committed to the teaching mission and the comprehensive development of the competent physician in this challenging and ever-changing healthcare environment. We provide the infrastructure, support and guidance to help you navigate successfully along your path.

The UC Irvine Office of Graduate Medical Education oversees residency and fellowship education for nearly 700 trainees in 64 ACGME-accredited specialties and subspecialties. UC Irvine empowers our residents and fellows to become fully proficient in their chosen fields and promotes the characteristics expected of a physician by creating an atmosphere that encourages the pursuit of intellectual, scholarly, professional and personal growth. We are dedicated to the enrichment of both depth and breadth of experiences and ideas, the establishment of a solid foundation of medical knowledge, the development of sophisticated skills to solve complex problems, and the commitment to high ethical and professional standards. Providing excellent education and clinical training, 560 full-time faculty members and more than 1300 volunteer faculty members from 26 clinical departments surround you.

Serving the needs of our diverse community and providing bountiful patient care opportunities, UC Irvine Medical Center is designated as a Level I trauma center, a Level II pediatric trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center and a Magnet hospital. We are also home to the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only 45 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers in the country, as well as the region's only high-risk neonatal/perinatal program and burn center

Our GME leadership team and committee are dedicated to ensuring that each training program and our institution meet all accreditation requirements as well as maintain an optimal clinical learning environment that promotes the values that UC Irvine so strongly promotes, such as compassion, respect, honesty and integrity. Our team works hard to ensure the success of our residents and fellows not only during your time at UC Irvine, but in your future careers.

Welcome to the UC Irvine family!
