15 Minutes of TIME is a faculty development podcast series that introduces medical education faculty to instructional technology tools and pedagogical techniques. Each podcast is only 15 minutes long and is approved for .25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (See CME Syllabus).

CME Syllabus

Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to provide SOM professional development on using and integrating educational technology into their teaching, for example, podcasts, clinical iPad tools, iPad teaching tools, etc. via a series of 15-minute podcasts. In addition, faculty will be provided technology knowledge (TK) in the context of the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) framework to help them make more effective instructional choices. At the end of the activity, faculty should be able to identify at least one use case for the educational technology tool or pedagogical method presented in each podcast.

Target audience
This activity was developed for all faculty teaching for the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine including Ph.D. and M.D. of varying specialties.

Activity objectives
At the conclusion of these activities, the participants should be able to:

Define an educational technology tool or pedagogical method as presented in the podcast.
List benefits and challenges of the educational technology tool or pedagogical method (if appropriate) presented in the podcast.
Identify at least one use case in medical education for the educational technology tool or pedagogical method presented in the podcast.

Accreditation statement
The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation statement
The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of .25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per podcast. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
